How to make contact welding

Depending on the type of part, select the appropriate type of welding. Distinguish welding spot, suture and butt. The point is most suitable for joining entire sheets of metal of relatively small thickness. The butt joint is most often used in welding tubular structures, and the seam joint is used in the manufacture of hermetic containers, for example tanks, where particularly strong seams are required.
To do spot welding, perform the following operations: clamp the joined parts between the electrodes, which have the shape of a truncated cone with a diameter of not more than 12 mm, and pass an electric current through them. At the junction, a so-called “weld point” is formed, which in appearance resembles a rivet. To make the connection more durable, you can put several such rivets. Spot welding machines are fairly common.
Butt welding is often carried out at the connection of polypropylene pipes.To do this, place the thermoelement between both ends of the pipes to be welded. When the pipes become very hot and their ends become plastic, remove the thermal heating element and, under pressure, firmly press the ends of the surfaces to be welded to each other. The result is a very tight hermetic seam.
When performing seam welding, the workpieces are joined together by a seam consisting of many points. In this case, put both blanks on top of each other and clamp them between the electrodes. Apply current, and the metal in the contact zone will melt. Roll the work pieces between the electrodes to achieve the appearance of all new weld points that may or may not overlap each other. There are continuous, intermittent and step welding. In the first case, the parts are connected by a solid seam, in the second - one cast zone is first formed.
