Mechanism of action


"Cycloferon" is an immunomodulatory drug whose action is based on stimulating the production of alpha-interferon in the epithelial and lymphoid cells of the body. It has antiviral, anti-inflammatory, immunocorrective activity. Since interferons are special proteins produced by cells that reduce their susceptibility to infections, the drug that stimulates the production of interferon, primarily designed to improve immunity.Almost never a drug is prescribed as an independent drug.
Interferon alpha is effective against both bacterial and viral infections. Among the first are various diseases caused by chlamydia, spirochete, and others; shows antiviral activity against pathogens of encephalitis, influenza, herpes, hepatitis A, B and C in the acute phase, cytomegalovirus, human papillomavirus, HIV, etc.Effectively helps to fight against fungal infections and diseases caused by protozoan parasites.
“Cycloferon” is used in various immunodeficient states, for example, in case of severe burns, to prevent postoperative complications, chronic infections. It is also prescribed in oncological practice to reduce the negative effects of chemotherapy.

Mode of application


"Cycloferon" in tablets is applied once a single dose of 300-600 mg for adults according to the basic scheme: for 1, 2, 4, 6, 8, 11, 14, 17, 20, 23, 26, 29 days. Individual dosage and duration of administration may vary depending on the disease and doctor's prescription. Take the pills, without chewing, half an hour before meals. With the preventive purpose during periods of seasonal exacerbations of the incidence of influenza and acute respiratory infections, tablets are taken for 1, 2, 4, 6, 8 days in age doses. In the case of severe acute respiratory viral diseases, the dose for the first dose of the drug can be increased to 900 mg.Children from 4 to 6 years old are prescribed 1 tablet (150 mg), 7-11 years old 2 tablets, over 12 - 3 tablets per day according to the basic scheme.
Solution for injection designate 250-500 mg every other day. Injections can be placed intramuscularly or intravenously, depending on the disease. Typically, the basic course is limited to ten injections in a total dose of 2.5-5 g. Later, if necessary, switch to maintenance therapy - 1 ampoule every 3 days. In this drug form, the drug is more often prescribed for HIV, infections of the urogenital system, herpes infections, hepatitis, neuroinfections.
Liniment is prescribed according to the instructions locally as an aid in infectious and inflammatory diseases of the urinary tract, herpetic dermatitis and eczema, as well as in chronic periodontitis.
